The program includes Occupational and Speech Therapy, as well as Psychology, depending upon the child’s needs.
These programs are funded by Family Support for Children with Disabilities. Behavioral or developmental aide support is provided under supervision, with goals typically focusing on both training parents and practising and generalizing skills and strategies across home and community environments.
Social Skills Programs
LEAD Foundation offers two Saturday social skills programs for children with ASD and other
developmental disabilities. Children ages 3 to 6 (who are toilet trained) are invited to join our
Buddy Brigade program. This program is typically 1.5 hours in length. We typically have a 1:1
program assistant ration for our Buddy Brigade program. Children 6 to 9 years old are welcome to
attend our Friend Quest program. This program is typically 3 hours in length. We typically utilize
a 2:1 or 3:1 program assistant ratio. Each program runs in 8 week session blocks from October to
May.
PROGRAM PHILOPSOPHY
Play to learn and learn to play! Through play and structured learning themes children will learn
goals related to individual and group needs. Examples of learning themes include skills to develop
an understanding of feelings, pragmatic communication, self-esteem, friendship, self regulation,
and self reflection. Activities encompass fine motor, gross motor, role playing and video modeling.
Once practiced goals are then transitioned to community environments in group outings.
